Located at the heart of city in bharathidasansan salai. (1 km from Chataram Bus stand) very Rare Bronze and stone sculpture belonging to ancient Tamil nadu are seen here. This museum is never kept closed and so anyone can visit on any day.From morning 10 a.m. till evening 5 p.m. the museum is open. Foreigners has to pay Rs. 100 as entrance fee and for Indians the fare are Rs. 5 for adult and Rs 3 for children and for students it is Rs. 2. The statue of important Indian priests namely mahavir and Buddha are seen .The statue of lord Lord Vishnu is also seen Here. |
Big Anaicut Kallanai
Located at a distance of 20 km from the trichy city. The only dam which is fully built of rock stones is one among the sculptural Beauties of India. The king who built this dam is called karikal cholan belonging to 2nd century AD. This Dam was built to prevent floods from river cauvery and also to preserve it. Dimensions of this Dam are It is 329 m long 20 m wide. As people say “old is Gold”, this dam is still used. A Bridge is also built in the front side from the road. A very important spot to see in Trichy.
Mukkambu (Upper anaicut)
A nice place of visit in trichy. It is 18 km away from trichy but very near to srirangam, on its Head side. This place is supposed to be the place of split of river kollidam and cauvery. A dam is there which is about 685m long. It was constructed during 19th century in british rule as the place available for construction was very lesser the architects were forced to split this to three sections instead of a long, single dam. Wild animals like Deer, hedgehogs, monkey’s ,big lizards and many other creatures are seen. A fine picnic spot in fact.
Pachamalai
A range of mountain Situated in the way towards thanjavur. The distance to be traveled to reach this is 80 km. The word “pachai” mean “Green” Literally in tamil. As a proof of this a green carpet is seen all around mountain ranges. A clean an Green place of picnic famous for this evergreen forest.
Planetarium
More educative and interesting place in trichy. Located at a distance of 5 km from trichy on the way of pudukottai road, near Trichy Airport. Programs regarding astronomy are shown everyday in English and Tamil. An explicit experience makes us know about astronomy and universe a lot .Tamil program timings are from 10 am to 1.00 pm and 3.30.or English program the timings are 11.45 am to 2.15 pm and from 2.45 pm. Pm to4.45 pm.
Puliancholai
Not so much distant from Trichy. One has to Travel 72 km to reach this place via Thanjavur. A complete Green forest with a mountain and many small waterfalls. It is a cool place with a splendor stream of water. Pebbles seen here are very soft and describes how the water keeps streaming continually. A picnic spot for short time plan not exceeding a day.
